Assignment Expedition is committed to protecting children's privacy online. This Children's Privacy Policy supplements our general Privacy Policy and explains our practices regarding information collected from children under 13.
Our Commitment to COPPA
We comply with the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA). This policy explains:
- What information we collect from children
- How we use and protect that information
- Parents' rights regarding their children's information
1. Parental Consent Requirement
Before a child under 13 can use Assignment Expedition:
- A parent or guardian must create the parent account first
- The parent then creates the child's account
- By creating a child account, the parent consents to our collection and use of the child's information as described in this policy
2. Information We Collect From Children
We collect only the minimum information necessary to provide our service:

3. How We Use Children's Information
We use explorer's (children's) information ONLY to:
- Provide the assignment management service
- Display the explorer's progress to their guide (parent)
- Award points and achievements
- Generate age-appropriate assignment suggestions (if birthday provided)
We do NOT use children's information for:
- Advertising or marketing
- Behavioral profiling
- Selling to third parties
- Any purpose not directly related to the service
4. Information We Do NOT Collect From Children
We do not collect:
- Email addresses from children
- Phone numbers
- Photos or videos
- Precise geolocation
- Social media accounts
- Any unnecessary personal information
5. Data Security
We protect children's data with:
- Encryption in transit (HTTPS) and at rest
- Secure password hashing
- Access controls limiting who can view data
- Regular security reviews
- Minimal data collection practices
6. Parental Rights
Parents have the right to:
Review Information
Contact us to review all information collected about your child.
Refuse Further Collection
You may request we stop collecting information from your child by deleting their account.
Delete Information
Request deletion of your child's account and all associated data. Deletion is completed within 30 days.
Withdraw Consent
Withdraw consent at any time by deleting the child's account.
To exercise these rights:
- Use the in-app account deletion feature, OR
- Email: privacy@assignmentexpedition.com with subject "COPPA Request"
7. Data Retention
- Child account data is retained only while the account is active
- Upon account deletion, data is removed within 30 days
- We do not retain children's personal information longer than necessary
8. Changes to This Policy
If we make material changes to how we collect or use children's information:
- We will notify parents via the parent account email
- We will require new consent before implementing changes
- The "Last Updated" date will be updated
